Q: What are the accommodations like?
A: Coco Loco Eco-resort, located in Manzano Nº 1, Nicaragua, is a relaxed and welcoming retreat where comfort, simplicity, and thoughtful design come together. The palm thatched roof cabanas, built from local pine and eucalyptus provide a rustic authentic Nicaraguan experience. Each cabana includes an ensuite eco-friendly washroom with a private open-air shower. Cabanas are not air conditioned. The evenings are typically warm and comfortable. The main dining palapa overlooking the property is spacious and includes a bar, conversational seating spaces, and a cooling pool. There are plenty of hammocks near the pool and by the beach.
Q: Where do I fly into?
A: You’ll want to fly into Augusto Cesar Sandino International Airport (ACS) in Managua. We suggest that you get fully refundable tickets.
Q: Are there mosquitoes?
A: Yes, but late March/April aren’t bad. The beds use mosquito nets to provide more comfort.
Q: Can I room with someone I know?
A: If you communicate your accommodation requests, we will do everything we can to make it happen.
Q: What should I expect weather wise?
A. Early spring is the end of the dry season. Expect warm mornings, hot and sunny afternoons, and comfortable evenings. 74-92° F every day. 82° F water.
Q. Are novice/beginner surf levels welcome?
A. Yes! There are a variety of surf breaks within 3 miles of the resort. Knowledgable surf guides will take small groups based on ability to appropriate surf breaks. We are shooting for 2-3 guests per surf coach, so you will receive ample time and attention toward learning or improving your surf ability and enjoyment.
Q. What about yoga levels?
A. All yoga offerings will be all levels.
Q. Will there be downtime throughout the week?
A. Absolutely. We believe part of the magic of this location is the quiet and simplicity. A large part of the late morning and early afternoon will be unscheduled aside from meals. Use it to explore, nap, read, swim, sunbathe, or socialize.
Q. Do I need to know Spanish?
A. Always helps, but not needed. Staff at the resort speak English. There will be enough of us with basic Spanish skills and translation apps to manage other situations.
Q. Do I need yoga or surf gear?
A. Yoga mats and props are available on site for no additional cost. The resort has a wide variety of surfboards for use at no additional cost. A rash/sun guard is strongly suggested.
Q: Can my dietary needs be accommodated?
A: Meals are cooked on site from locally sourced ingredients. Coco Loco will accommodate all dietary needs.
Q: Is there wi-fi?
A: Yes, there is a wi-fi signal available at the main gathering/dining palapa. The cabanas do not have reliable wi-fi.
